August 2021

Welcome to the website that I put together to speak about my journey as a creative. Since retiring from my wonderful teaching career, I have been enjoying more time with my family, my furry, and feathered friends. I listened to the advice that I gave my students over the years. I shared that I felt we should all pursue our own goals and dreams.

So, I have been writing a bit, painting a bit, and reading a lot. I make new paper whenever I can, as colorful, ripped paper sparks my imagination and is the star of my work! Nature has informed and inspired most of my art, although you may not see it literally in the piece. So, throwing it all out there, I have published a diverse collection of my work on this site. Currently my art is listed by medium or series.

Working in abstract is intuitive and a form of self expression that I hold dear, as it helps me speak using the elements and principles of art. Conversely, painting with paper starts with a plan and always takes on a lighted path of its own! Most often, the papers that I make hold the unexpected topic for the next piece. I never know. Isn’t that beautiful? The next piece, like the next day, is always a fold in my intentional, yet serendipitous journey.

My inner work and journey has led to some interesting artistic expressions, especially during the climate of 2020. The Somatic Series is a collection of what I feel are very powerful pieces, from that time period. I hope that someday, I will be able to share those pieces as a collection in retrospect.

My current plans? I am going to open an online store and plan to return to teaching online on a website that I am developing called “In A Virtual Studio”. I also plan on keeping up my blog named “Ten Ounce Cup”, which will be a random assortment of topics, although doesn’t everything relate to art in some way? I think so, as we all should focus on expressing our creativity, as each one of us is truly unique.

Thanks for visiting my art website.
